Stop! The Road is Closed
What happens when the highway between two towns named Peachland and Summerland is closed because the mountain is sliding down? You can either go north around the lake, or go through the mountains or take a free water taxi, to the place you want to go, which would of course mean no car at the end of the journey. For thousands of people it is a time of frustration, but for a little boy the best thing he ever saw was the sign Stop! The Road is Closed.
Read on for a story based on closure of Highway 97, the rescue of Houdini the mountain goat and water taxi that left the young author so happy he decided to write it as a story with the help of his grandmother, at the ripe old age of 6.
