The Laptop Project is all about enabling children who are illiterate to read and write. Our Dream is to deliver literacy into the ‘lap’ of each child, through paper, iPods, mobiles phones and eventually laptops, enabling every child to read, write and communicate with the world fluently. Our Purpose is to transform the lives of the illiterate and poor by providing them with the means to better their lives. Our Mission is to build the world’s first turnkey organization, that can deliver education seamlessly and efficiently; in spite of the absence of basic infrastructure, at minimal cost by providing training, tools and systems to grass roots ‘teachers’ and volunteers to deliver results, at a cost that is less than a cup of coffee a day for 25 students.
